Before achieving widespread success, most rappers are forced to endure a series of hardships. But few have gone through the same kind of trials and tribulations that Gucci Mane has. Despite the pitfalls, Gucci Mane takes each moment in stride, both playfully and insightful.
After building up a solid buzz in the South in the early 2000s thanks to the overwhelming success of his infectious 2003 club anthem, “Icy,” featuring fellow up-and-coming Southern rapper Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane caught an attempted murder charge during a much-publicized beef with Jeezy and had to serve a year in prison. Upon his return, he released his debut album, Trap House, his stellar sophomore project, Hard To Kill, and his 2007 major label debut, Back To The Trap House, before eventually being forced to serve another year-long prison sentence for a probation violation stemming from a 2005 incident.
But Gucci Mane wouldn’t let a second major legal battle stop his movement. Instead, he jumped into the studio for days at a time before his sentence started and recorded dozens of songs that he eventually released through his So Icey Entertainment and 1017 Brick Squad Records imprints while he was incarcerated to help keep his name alive in the streets. It worked, and by the time Gucci Mane was released in March 2009, his buzz was better than ever and he immediately started recording songs for what would become his second major label album, The State Vs. Radric Davis.
By late 2009, the album was finished. Featuring the smash singles, “Wasted,” and “Spotlight,” featuring Usher, The State Vs. Radric Davis was shaping up to be the biggest release of Gucci Mane’s career. While he had already enjoyed plenty of success in the South and routinely made thousands of dollars for performing at shows every night, the album was projected to move him into the upper echelon of rap. He looked like he was primed to end the year on a positive note. Unfortunately, he had one more hurdle to clear—and it was a big one.
In November 2009, just a few weeks before the album hit stores, Gucci Mane found himself getting thrown behind bars again for breaking the terms of his probation. It was devastating for his fans, his followers and, most importantly, himself. “Unfortunately, my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping,” Gucci Mane admitted later. “I was forced to miss what should have been one of the proudest moments of my life.”
He didn’t let those moments go to waste, though. While in prison serving a one-year sentence, Gucci Mane wrote rhymes constantly, stayed in touch with his Brick Squad affiliates Waka Flocka Flame and DJ Holiday and set the stage for his return by releasing an official mixtape, The Burrrprint 2 HD, in March, which moved more than 15,000 units in its’ first week in stores. All of this prepared Gucci Mane to get back on his grind when he released from prison in May.

Floyd Mayweatherlived up to his nickname by throwing $5,000 into the air at Miami hot spot E11EVEN, and then threw down even more dough on bottle service for his VIP crew Wednesday morning, an insider told Page Six.
We’re told the boxing champ, 41, arrived at the club around 3 a.m. in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter dressed in a Nike hoodie, matching shorts and hisheadline-making $18 million Jacob and Co. watch.
Accompanied by a large crew of about 20 people, Mayweather was ushered in through the VIP door and seated at a secluded table in the club’s party pit.
“Within minutes of walking in, Mayweather started flooding the club floor with bills,” our insider said. “Clubgoers were going nuts realizing who it was after it happened.”
While the former fighter is known for not drinking alcohol, our source says “He didn’t mind spending his funds bottle service at e11even for his friends,” and ordered multiple bottles of Grey Goose, Don Julio 1942, Moët Nectar Rose and Hennessy to his table.
After settling in with pals, Mayweather made money rain down on clubgoers once again.

It’s a guarantee that the music will be well-picked if the club brand is also a record label. That is the case for Fabric, Farringdon’s premium nightlife choice. The music sits between techno, dubstep, house and drum and bass- think Claude Vonstroke, Skrillex and Midland. Three rooms across 25,000 square feet means no loss of space to get your groove on.
However, particularly for those who go to clubs to be fully engulfed in the sound, there is Room One. Ministry of Sound is a tribute to the importance of audio in nightlife, an idea that is often forgotten in the modern age of “trendy clubs.” This Southwark club is a veteran in London’s entertainment scene, opening in 1991 by an owner that set out to put music first, lights second, and atmosphere third- a refreshing break from many clubs’ priorities today.
In 2016, Ministry of Sound had Dolby Laboratories install Dolby Atmos, their 64-speaker, 22-channel sound system that gives a new name to good sound. The system fills the club’s main room, most crowded on their Saturday night “club nights” which host acts from Marshmello to Zeds Dead. Friday nights are a favorite for Trance lovers eager to hear artists like Markus Shultz.
This moody-chic Shoreditch classic, delivering musical variety London residents and vacayers enjoy, has 2 floors, resident DJs and all that good stuff. The lights and ambiance of XOYO are slightly reminiscent of a 70s club. This all goes flawlessly with their signature “XOYO Loves,” night during which they play more melodic tracks across the EDM board, but especially residing in the disco genre.

The intimate southeast London club often brings in talent that isn’t fully on the mainstream radar yet. The genres go across the board- techno, house, electro, disco, and even hints of dubstep and drum and bass.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. It looks like globe-trotting DJ and producer Tiësto will be staying as well, with the extension of his multi-year residency, which will go through 2020. The news was revealed Monday (Dec. 11) in a press statement made by Hakkasan Group, which operates Hakkasan Nightclub, Wet Republic, Jewel, Omnia, and several other clubs for both day and nightlife.
“It is an honor to return to Hakkasan Group and to continue my residencies at Hakkasan Nightclub and Wet Republic,” says Tiësto. “Vegas has come to feel like home, and through my residency with Hakkasan Group, I feel proud of the space we’ve created here for dance music. I look forward to many more opportunities to be inspired by this incredible city in venues that are consistently full of energy.”
Hakkasan Group’s CEO Nick McCabe adds, “Since our Hakkasan partnership began in 2013, Tiësto has been an artist who delivers an amazing experience for our guests time and time again.
