A new 5,000 square-foot nightclub, Analog BKNY, has opened in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
Located in the Industrial darkness between Gowanus and Park Slope, Analog BKNY is a sound infused musically prismatic atmosphere where you come to release your senses and unleash your soul. Powered by the globally awarded audio system, the SBS Slammer, our Hi-Fi Analog sound will warp your mind and leave you craving for more. Coupled with dazzling ceiling lights and an intimate setting, you will have a night to remember at Analog BKNY.
The industrial building previously housed Sankeys Brooklyn, which folded after three weeks due to conflicts between the European brand and its local franchise. Before that it was SRB, a live music venue that closed in 2014. It’s outfitted with an analog speaker system built by Craig Bernabeu, who has engineered soundsystems at clubs like Twilo in Manhattan and Stereo in Montreal.
“It’s a hand-made soundsystem built from scratch,” he said. “It even has one-of-a-kind amplifiers. There’s no limiters, no compressors—pure sound.” Bernabeu, who runs the audio manufacturing company SBS Designs, built many of the components in the DJ booth, which also includes a Urei rotary mixer.
Analog BKNY’s manager, Michael Bruno, is confident that the club will draw crowds despite its off-the-beaten-path location in southern Brooklyn. “Brooklyn is not just a few blocks of Williamsburg and Bushwick,” he said. “People travel to these warehouses in Sunset Park and Atlantic Avenue. So why not here? We’re right in the middle.” The venue won’t be open every night or even every weekend, however. Since its owner, Arden Kaisman, is also its landlord, there are no overhead rent costs, meaning they can open for one-off gigs only.
- Analog BKNY has one of the best sound systems in town.
- Coat Check is available.
- No re-entry upon exiting venue.
- There are pop-up events occasionally.
